One of our crew just reported that the city’s downtown lost power briefly. Our generator kicked in for Zipa’s datacenter, of course. Around this time, George also went outside and heard automatic weapons firing. But what’s scarier is that he also saw an apparently drunken Harahan(?) police officer with an AI Artic Warfare Magnum (nice gun) running around. It might be best if we stay inside. |
Interestingly enough, the Arctic Warfare magnum was featured on Futureweapons this evening. _________________

Gustav Downgrades to Category 2
Monday, September 1, 2008, 8:07 am
The National Hurricane Center just reported that Gustav has been downgraded to a category 2 hurricane. The storm’s center is now 80 miles south-southwest of us and moving at 16 mph. Max sustained winds remain at 110 mph; rainfall estimates remain the same. _________________

9th Ward levee is being overflowed, but has not (yet) collapsed.
Edit to avoid chain posting: Geraldo sucks. He spots a guy in the water in the canal area. The guy has a life vest on. The water is about as choppy as a swimming pool that has a diving board that is being used, no surface currents. Geraldo gets all dramatic like it's some sort of emergency, like the guy's been "stranded" or "swept off the deck" of a tug.

The levees totally did the job they were designed to do. Geraldo is a tool. It's actions like that that make people get all dramatic and panicky. Besides, compared to my area, New Orleans got a little thunderstorm - in fact most of the New Orleans area had power restored within 48 hours. I'm sure the parasites will be scheming to suck up some FEMA money because of it. After 7 days without electricity, I can safely say that I don't feel too sorry for them. I'm so sick of people thinking it's the government's job to provide luxuries for them. I'm not talking about people who NEED housing, tarps, MRE's, etc. I'm talking about the ones who think they can make money off the whole ordeal.
But I guess the sensible, well-prepared folks in the river parishes and bayou country aren't nearly as sexy on Geraldo's news reports.
